Fiesta Restaurant Reports Q1 Same-Store Sales Up 1.1% at Pollo Tropical

Fiesta Restaurant Group (FRGI), the parent company of two fast-casual restaurant brands, reported late Tuesday preliminary comparable restaurant sales for fiscal Q1 ended April 1 of a 1.1% increase at Pollo Tropical, while comparable store sales at Taco Cabana declined 1.7%.

“Executing our strategic renewal plan continued in full force during Q1, and we are encouraged by the improving sales trajectory across our two brands,” said CEO Richard Stockinger.

“Pollo Tropical generated its first quarter of positive comparable restaurant sales since Q4 of 2015 and has now experienced four consecutive months of positive comparable restaurant sales through March. Trends at Taco Cabana improved sequentially in March, with a comparable restaurant sales decrease of 0.2% including the negative impact of approximately 0.6% related to the Easter shift,” Stockinger added.
